I am passionate about providing support that puts the client's worldview, their family and their own loves and passions at the centre of their care - to allow people the space to be who they are, without imposed obligation or expectations.
My history of work as a registered nurse in palliative care and my lived experience as a woman with autism have uniquely prepared me for supporting autistic people of all ages within the healthcare system.
My particular role is in amplifying the autistic person’s own voice – however that is expressed – in order to enable their questions to be heard and their needs to be met. I offer a cultural translation service between the autistic patient and the medically trained personnel, exploring and providing the information they need to be able to trust the professional in front of them.
With over a thirty years of diverse experience ranging form stagemanagement to Dental assisting and many other things, I currently serve as the Senior Officer in Marketing and Communications for Donor Experience at RMIT Giving.
I specialise in communications and donor events as well as telling the stories of recipients of philanthropic funding at RMIT. Since March 2019, I've been a freelance copywriter, delivering high-quality content and editorial services.
My experience includes a short-term contract with RIISE, a luxury sustainable lifestyle platform, where I provided meticulous copyediting and proofreading. I also ran my own business, Castlemaine Tours. I hold an Associate Degree in Professional Writing and Editing from RMIT University, where I contributed to the production of the annual anthology, Prism. My passion for effective communication and dedication to excellence define my professional journey.
